教学目标 Course Objectives
本课程向学生介绍世界各地古代文明(包括非洲、两河流域、中美洲、东亚)的起源和发展,旨在让学生认识全球范围内
古代文明的多样性并具备全球视野下的比较研究意识。通过介绍世界各地古代文明在现今社会中的传承与变迁,讨论文化
传统的形成和延续。通过比较研究理论和方法的介绍及专题举例,让学生初步掌握比较研究方法并认识到中国文明形成和
发展程的特性考古、历学、民族语言材料运用,让认识代文研究中使多种会科
法,并能运用社会科学视角理解古代文明。
This course introduces students to the origin and developments of ancient civilizations in different regions, which helps
students understand and appreciate the complexities of the ancient civilizations around the world, gaining a
comparative perspective under the global scope. Through providing a broad overview of the cultural inheritances and
changes in different areas such as Egypt, Mesopotamia, and Mesoamerica, this course aims to examine ways in which
cultural tradition shaped and continues to contribute to modern societies. Through introducing theories and
methodologies of comparative studies with case studies, it is proposed to help students acquire basic concepts of
comparative studies and understand the regularities and differences among ancient cultures around the world, thus be
aware of the characteristics of ancient Chinese Civilization. By using archaeological, historical, ethnological, and
linguistical materials in introducing ancient civilizations, it is expected to introduce different social science approaches
that are used to study ancient cultures, and encourage students to understand ancient cultures from the perspectives of
social science.

本课程预期让学生掌握以下技能和知识:

2、理解古代文明随时空变化的相似性和不同,以及其背后的人类行为内在动因
3、认识古代文明研究中应用的多种社会科学方法
4、具备跨文明比较研究视野
5、通过分析古代文明在当今社会的延续和影响,将古代文明与现代社会联系起来
6、认识中国文明起源和发展的独特性
By the end of the course, you should:
1. Have a fundamental knowledge of the ancient civilizations around the world.
2. Identify the spatiotemporal regularities and differences among different cultural groups around the world, thus be
aware of the inner motivations especially human behaviour promoting cultural development.
3. Be aware of different social science approaches that are used to study ancient cultures.
4. Acquire a cross-cultural comparative perspective in understanding ancient cultures.
5. Draw connections between the ancient past and modern societies through examining the ways in which ancient
culture and belief shaped and continues to contribute to present communities.
6. Recognizing the uniqueness of Chinese civilization.
