教学目标 Course Objectives

The students will:

 understand the geographic and historical division of Russia;

 understand what ethnic groups have played an important role in the history of Russia;

 understand the principles of geographic and historical division in Eurasian history;

 acquire a new perspective to think about the history of Russian-Chinese relations;

 learn how contemporary problems and political tensions in Russia are determined by its historical legacy.

The course aims to develop the following knowledge and skills:

 analyze historical processes in Eurasia at the level of specific historico-geographic regions;

 trace the causal connections between the contemporary political events, geographic factors and historical

legacy;

 develop a sympathetic understanding of different ethnicities of contemporary Russia;



explain one’s point of view convincingly in academic writing.
