教学目标 Course Objectives
本课程以 19 世纪末以前中国以外各国（特别是欧洲国家）建筑的发展过程为研究对象。主要内容包括古典埃及、两河流
域和伊朗高原建筑，古代希腊、罗马、拜占庭的建筑，欧洲封建社会时期以及伊斯兰世界的古代建筑。
城市文化和建筑艺术的演变，就是通过空间生产反应出来的社会关系的生产。本课程将引导学生从理论与历史的阅读中再
来认识建筑的语言，形成对于功能、空间、形式、秩序、文脉和建构等建筑语汇的深层认识，也形成关于建筑作为文化现
象的深层理解。通过深层次认知古代不同历史时期与文明背景出现的代表性建筑、建设活动、建筑思想等历史瑰宝，建立
关于建筑与社会、宗教、文化与科学技术的等一系列人类文明因素有机互动发展的史观。
This course focuses on the development and evolution of architecture around the world (especially in the western world
dominated by Europe) before the end of the 19th century. It covers architecture in ancient Egypt, Mesopotamia, and
Iranian plateau, that in ancient Greek, Rome, and Byzantium, and that in European feudal society and the Islamic world.
The evolution of urban culture and architectural art is the emergence of social relations that are reflected through
production of space. This course will lead students to learn to distinguish different architectural terms such as
architectural function, space, form, order, context, and construction from the reading of theories and history, and provide
them insights into architecture as a cultural phenomenon. Through cognition of the representative buildings,
construction activities, architectural thoughts, and other historical treasures at different times in history of various
civilizations, students are expected to establish an architectural historical view on the mutual interaction between
architecture and a host of human civilization factors such as society, religion, culture and science and technology.

Upon successful completion, students would obtain the following skills and knowledge:

Understand the major thoughts, goals and approaches in western architectural history,
