教学目标 Course Objectives
通过对现当代英语和部分英译诗歌的文本细读,“现代世界里的诗歌”引导学生细察语言的艺术,辨识剧变的世界中的各
种新美学,认识诗歌与其社会气候的关联。每节课将聚焦于一个重要的诗歌主题,通过一组精选诗作,来掌握读诗的基础
知识(如格律、形式、声音、修辞、主题传统等),探讨创造才能带来的智性、美学或伦理的力量和愉悦,探索现代世界
中诗歌无限的可能性。
Through close reading of modern and contemporary poems in English or translated into English, “Poetry in the Modern
World” provides guidance for students to appreciate the art of words, discern the new aesthetics in a rapidly transforming
world, and perceive the relation between poetry and its social climate. For each class, a group of selected poems around
a central theme will be presented, through which we will get to learn the essential knowledge for a poetry reader (meter,
form, voice, rhetoric, thematic tradition, etc.), approach the intellectual, aesthetic, or ethical force and pleasure of the
creative talents, and explore the limitless possibilities of poetry in the modern age across the world.
