教学目标 Course Objectives
The aim of this course is to build effective global communication skills to prepare students for professional and academic
engagement with non-Chinese speakers using English as a lingua franca. This will be achieved by training students to
recognize and apply linguistic and non-linguistic strategies and skills to enhance rapport building and mutual
comprehension across regions. The course also aims to expand students’ familiarity with World Englishes and English
as an International language in order to be capable of comprehension of a range of English accents, lexicons and
cultural contexts.

预达学习成果 Learning Outcomes
Students will develop transcultural engagement and communication skills.
Students will become familiar with a range of regional contexts, cultures and accents and build their schematic and
linguistic knowledge to enhance effective transregional communication and collaboration.
Students will develop the skills to identify appropriate language, content, and actions for effective transcultural
communication and collaboration.
Students will be able to identify and respond to transcultural communication challenges and crises and identify and
avoid language and actions with potential for ambiguity or misunderstanding.
Students will be able to produce written and spoken texts which build rapport and understanding across regions and
promote effective transcultural communication and collaboration.
