教学目标 Course Objectives
The IELTS Preparation (Listening and Speaking) course will provide students with IELTS Academic Test instruction, test
types analysis, listening and speaking topic analysis and test-taking strategies. Specifically, this course will help students
to:
increase their IELTS Listening and Speaking scores.
enhance their communicative competences and better survive in an English-speaking country.
learn strategies for practicing and improving listening and speaking on their own.

预达学习成果 Learning Outcomes
Through successful completion of this course, students will:
Be familiar with different listening and speaking task types, and be able to answer all questions involving the 2 skills
(listening and speaking) in the IELTS Academic Exam.
Listening: achieve a listening score of 5.5/6.0 to 6.0/6.5 or above.
The students will be able to use the listening test-taking techniques to answer various questions, for example,
identify key words by synonyms and specific markers.
Speaking: achieve a speaking score of 5.5/6.0 to 6.0/6.5 or above.
The students will be able to speak for 2 minutes on any given topics without interruption. Besides, students will be
prepared to have a conversation and a discussion with the examiner under any given topics on a one-to–one basis.

Introduction to IELTS Listening Part;
Introduction to different listening question types;
Mock exam: IELTS mock exam-Listening.
Section 2
Main Topics:
Analysis of three specific listening question types;
Practice on multiple choice, sentence completion
and summary completion under different topics;
Learn about techniques used in mastering listening
section;
Listen for specific information to complete the task
on sentence completion;
Learn to get the main idea of a passage to complete
the task on summary completion.
Section 1
Main topics:
Introduction to IELTS Speaking Part;
Introduce to three different sections of the
Speaking test;
Learn criteria of mark evaluation;
Mock exam: Standard IELTS Speaking Test
introduction.
Section 2
Main Topics:
Analyze and familiarize different patterns of
“IELT Speaking Test”.
Vocabulary preparation:
Learn useful vocabularies and daily
expressions for Speaking under different
topics;
Test Part 1;

Pair Practice: mainly focus on personal
information and everyday subjects).

Feedback on the mock exam;
Analysis of the listed listening question types;
Practice on map, table, diagram, form, flow chart

Learn to follow a description to complete the task on

Identify and understand the main ideas with
supporting details of the discussion about a study-
related topic;
Identify and understand the main ideas with
supporting details of a lecture or a speech;
Learn about specific techniques used in filling the
blanks with short answers;
Identify and follow the signpost words to help better
answer the questions;
Mock exam on listening test;
