教学目标 Course Objectives
The course will help students to:
• increase their awareness of pronunciation.
• improve intelligibility by gaining a better understanding of English rhythm, stress, and intonation.
• identify the features of English that cause particular difficulty for native speakers of Chinese and other Asian
languages.
•
learn strategies for practicing and improving pronunciation on their own.

After successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
• recognize and produce English vowel sounds and diphthongs.

recognize and produce English consonant sounds and consonant clusters.
• apply effectively appropriate stress patterns in English words and sentences.

comprehend and effectively use appropriate English intonation patterns.
•
gain a command of stress-timed rhythm of English.
• identify their own pronunciation difficulties.
•
develop self-monitoring and self-correction skills.
