教学目标 Course Objectives
The course will help students to:
Understand the major theories of contemporary translation studies and major issues in translation history
Differentiate type of texts, language and strategies for scientific and technical translation
Develop a basic proficiency in written scientific and technical translation from English into Chinese and from Chinese
to English
Become skilled in clear expression and sensitive to stylistic issues

预达学习成果 Learning Outcomes
After successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
Identify the problems and difficulties in the translation of texts in science and technology;
Demonstrate an understanding of the stylistic differences between the language of science and technology and the
language of literature;
Translate scientific and technical complex texts within familiar subject domains between English and Chinese, with
the use of dictionaries.
