教学目标 Course Objectives
Through successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
1) understand the importance of English as a medium in exploring issues concerning (cutting-edge) technology;
2) apply their English skills to conduct research;
3) demonstrate competence of English in discussing, giving presentations, and writing academic papers.

预达学习成果 Learning Outcomes
In this undergraduate seminar, students will have the opportunity to explore the relationships between society,
technology, and culture with English as a medium of study. The course invites students to open their eyes and minds for
an interdisciplinary learning experience by using their knowledge of English, science and technology background, and
observations on daily life. Upon finishing this course, students will be able to:
reflect on how their own field of scientific study impacts society and culture through discussions and presentations
develop skills of using English for a real purpose;
apply critical thinking to examining multimedia artifacts about technology;
demonstrate their understanding of society, technology and culture by creating videos and making effective
communication about their ideas.
